چکیده

Background and objective: The medicinal effects of flavonoids are widely described in the literature; however, their antimicrobial against antibiotic resistant bacteria yet to be highlighted. This study was aimed at investigating growth biofilm inhibitory taxifolin, a flavonoid, vancomycin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (VRSA). Methods: Seven VRSA isolates were used assess antibiofilm influence taxifolin. agar-well diffusion method determine zones inhibition caused by resazurin-based microdilution technique minimum concentration. Crystal violet staining biomass biofilms formed microorganisms. GraphPad Prism software present data figures. Results: Taxifolin inhibited bacterial dose-dependent fashion reduced viability. It similarly attenuated production activity manner. Conclusions: Current findings suggest antibacterial taxifolin

Emergence of Vancomycin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (VRSA)

Background: Staphylococcus aureus is one of the bacteria under the genus Staphylococcus which is a gram-positive coccus. It is microscopically observed as individual organisms, in pairs and in irregular, grapelike clusters. S. aureus is non-motile and non-spore forming bacteria. It is one of the most common community and nosocomial pathogen. It mainly causes skin and soft tissue infections as i...

Staphylococcus aureus VRSA-11B is a constitutive vancomycin-resistant mutant of vancomycin-dependent VRSA-11A.

Vancomycin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus VRSA-10 was isolated in 2009, whereas VRSA-11A and VRSA-11B were isolated from the same patient in 2010. Growth curves and determination of the nature of the peptidoglycan precursors and of the VanX d,d-dipeptidase activity in the absence and in the presence of vancomycin indicated that vancomycin resistance was inducible in VRSA-10, that VRSA-11A was ...

Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Vancomycin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (VRSA), and Vancomycin-Resistant Enterococci‌ (VRE) contamination of food samples in Iran: A systematic review and meta-analysis

During the last years, antimicrobial resistance has become one of the greatest challenges in clinical settings. Staphylococcus aureus and Enterococcus are important nosocomial pathogens worldwide. In different corners of the world, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE) have been isolated from various sources including different foods of an...

Efficacy of vancomycin-beta-lactam combinations against heterogeneously vancomycin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (hetero-VRSA).

There have been conflicting data about the interactions between vancomycin and beta-lactam agents against Staphylococcus aureus strains with heterogeneous resistance to vancomycin. We evaluated the efficacy of these combinations against Mu 3 and heterogeneously vancomycin-resistant S. aureus (hetero-VRSA) strains which were isolated from Korean patients using a population analysis method. Antag...

Vancomycin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (VRSA) from Nepal: a cocktail story.

The merit of a scientific writing is high only when it disseminates the new knowledge in a universally accepted and logical manner. I, with great interest, have read a paper entitled “Bacteriology and antimicrobial susceptibility of adult chronic dacryocystitis” by Chaudhary et al (2010). This paper of writing has raised few concerns after reading it and compelled me to bring the issues to the ...
